Cafe Del Rey in Saskatoon's downtown offers a focused, cozy spot for coffee lovers and casual breakfast or lunch seekers. Located on 3rd Avenue South, the café has a compact footprint with limited seating, which encourages a steady flow of folks dropping in rather than sprawling out for long work sessions. The atmosphere blends warm lighting with touches of greenery and local art, creating an inviting yet unpretentious space that feels equally suited for a quick caffeine hit or a quiet catch-up.

The menu centers around well-crafted coffee and approachable café fare. Standouts include a notably rich hot chocolate and a lavender latte, both showcasing some creative takes on classic café drinks. For bites, seasonal or straightforward options like croissants and grilled chicken paninis offer satisfying, freshly made choices without complexity. The grab-and-go options such as pesto chicken or classic egg salad sandwiches cater well to the downtown crowd needing something efficient but not fast-food simple.

Cafe Del Rey tends to attract a mix of locals—office workers popping by early, friends meeting up for breakfast, and individuals savoring hand-poured single-origin brews. Mornings can be moderately busy but not overwhelming, with brief lines forming as the day gets going. The staff prioritizes attentive service and are generally friendly, though new customers might notice some small hiccups during peak times when the café balances orders to take away versus in-house seating.

This spot feels most comfortable in the early to mid-morning hours when seating is more readily available, and the mood is calm enough to enjoy the details—from the presentation of drinks to the flavors of freshly baked cookies. While it’s not a large gathering place, the atmosphere holds a gentle energy that makes staying a while feel natural, especially for those who want a break from the bustling city streets. Its central location means it fits seamlessly into the rhythm of downtown Saskatoon life, offering quality coffee and quick bites without the pretense.

Stopped in for a cappuccino after a late lunch and was pleasantly surprised. It’s a small coffee shop with limited seating but my cappuccino to go was excellent.

Every detail here is thoughtfully done — from the friendly staff to the beautiful presentation of the drinks. You can tell the team here loves coffee and it shows in every cup. I tried a hand-brewed single origin that was full of flavor and expertly made. The café itself is spacious but still feels intimate, with plants, art, and warm lighting that give it a really welcoming feel. It’s also very clean and well-maintained, which I always appreciate. A perfect spot for both locals and visitors looking for a top-notch coffee experience.

Overall a lovely spot for breakfast! Immediately loved the look of the cafe, music, and seating options when walking in. I was there when it first opened in the morning so there was not as many people. After my group placed our orders, there formed a small line of people behind us. While initially there was some confusion with the barista about whether or not our orders were to-go or to-stay, it was not a big problem. Just thought that maybe it would have been nice to have more than one person on shift when it got busier, especially for the other customers. I got the dirty chai and egg salad sandwich. The dirty chai had a great earth taste and was warm - perfect for an early morning. While the sandwich’s filling was well-seasoned and I liked the texture especially with the greens, I thought that the bread was too thick for my liking in comparison to the filling. However, it was a great spot to grab a quick bite and the dirty chai is especially good.

There are truly no words to describe the incredible energy in this coffee shop. From the moment you walk in, it feels cozy, peaceful, and full of good vibes. I went with my friend, and we ended up staying for hours — we only left because the place was closing! The coffee was delicious, the cookie was perfect, and the service was beyond kind. Surrounded by plants and a beautiful setup, it honestly feels like you’re sitting in your own living room. They’re celebrating their third anniversary today, and the atmosphere couldn’t feel more special — like being part of something truly meaningful. I left with my heart full — truly one of those hidden gems that make your day brighter.

Visited on October 11, 2025 for quick breakfast We wanted to have French Toast as mentioned on their online Google account but was told that they don’t serve anymore. It would have been nice if they had removed that from online menu too. This is the only reason I am not giving 5 stars. Americano and egg sandwich we ordered were freshly made. This cafe opened early which is a good thing. Only lady staff there were friendly.

Cafe del Rey has such a fresh, expatriate vibe—a perfect spot for a coffee date! I had the matcha latte, and it was fantastic—just the right balance, not too sweet. The drip coffee was crisp and perfect. The service was top-notch, with the staff being friendly and attentive. The café itself is bright, airy, and absolutely Instagram-worthy—perfect for those looking to snap a pic with their coffee. I’ll definitely be back soon to try some of their food next time!

Look no further : this is the best cafe in Saskatoon. Yes, I've only been to this one because I just drove by Saskatoon, but no matter, I loved every bit of it. Went early morning for breakfast, and the cafe is bathing in a beautiful and warm sunlight. The furniture is well chosen, mostly second hand as I understand after a chat with the only barista here this morning, who kindly told me a bunch about the creation of this great coffeeshop. Decor is worth the view : well adjusted, color-themed and roomy all the while being warm and inviting. The mural is fantastic! Coming to the food and drinks : we had a hot chocolate (reg. milk), a matcha latte (oat milk), a breakfast sandwich and a vegetarian breakfast burrito : all were fabulous, our hats off to the owner's chef abilities . A lot of care clearly goes into making a well balanced plate with perfectly grilled food, or beautiful and tasty drinks. Bonus point for the tea selection! Other points to notice: The music at a perfect volume and neither too slow nor too overwhelming. The washrooms are pleasant and clean. Little details of decoration catch the eye and make you want to explore every nook (see pictures). Could add a couple of vegan options, if your clientele requires it? I could go on, but I'll conclude briefly (ha! "briefly") : a masterclass in great vibes coffeeshop !

This cafe is so gooddd! The coffee was delish, and they offer unique feature lattes. When I visited, they had a cookies and cream and a maple pecan option. The one I had (cookies and cream) was not overly sweet, and was really well-crafted. The space was so cute and cozy, and staff were also really friendly. The two guys working made me feel at home and were kind enough to recommend more spots for me to check out as they learned I wasn’t from the area. I’m really glad I stopped by because this was a cafe definitelyyy worth visiting!!!
